On November 26, 2004, the Action Committee Against Violence (ACAV) hosted a community forum to celebrate achievements, discuss ACAV’s new direction and seek input from the community on future priorities. The purpose of the forum was to provide an opportunity for community organizations, staff, faith groups and other stakeholders to provide input on the community’s priorities in relation to violence and to specifically identify ACAV’s priorities for the upcoming year. Eventually eight community priorities were suggested.

The eight priorities included Aboriginal Peoples, Persons with Disabilities, Abuse of Older Adults, Family Violence, Sexual Violence, Bullying and Harassment, Faith Groups and Children Exposed to Family Violence. ACAV recognizes that other community priorities currently exist and is therefore committed to working collaboratively with other organizations, which address these priorities, to ensure that all community needs are met.
