What are the benefits to
?
There are several benefits to becoming a Peace Heroes school!
- Throughout the year you will receive updated information on Peace Heroes schools and their various initiatives along with contact information. This will facilitate a mentoring process as successful Peace Heroes schools can act as advisors, share best practices and provide program and activity models to each other.
- You will have the option of hosting a Peace Heroes celebration. We will help you to plan a celebration that suits your needs- complete with a local celebrity Peace Hero to speak to your student body. Your school will be presented with a medal and other promotional materials to recognize your efforts.
- As a member of the Peace Heroes School Network, you will also receive our quarterly newsletter. This is full of up to date resources and initiatives that you will find useful and interesting. It also has practical lesson plans and activities for various grade levels. The newsletter will celebrate Peace Heroes schools by promoting various school initiatives and celebrations.
- You will be invited to our Peace Heroes Conferences. This year we will be planning two Peace Heroes Conferences- one in the fall to coincide with Turn Off the Violence Week and one in the Spring. These conferences will have speakers and workshops for students and will be a forum for students and teachers to learn and share ideas.
- Of course, the most important benefit of becoming a Peace Heroes school is that your school will become a safer and more peaceful place to be. When your students know that their school takes their safety seriously, they will be happier, healthier, and ready to learn.
We challenge your school to build peace! Need ideas? Check out the activities and celebrations that our partner schools have initiated.
