Any school can join the Peace Heroes School Network.
It is,
and best of all !
You can become a Peace Heroes school by filling out the registration form Link through to the registration form right here on our website. Here you can describe Peace Heroes initiatives that are already in place as well as Peace Heroes initiatives that your school will be undertaking during this school year. While you are on our website, you should also check out the Turn Off the Violence page. It has lots of great information about how you can become involved in the Turn Off the Violence public awareness campaign.
Participating schools benefit from being a part of the Peace Heroes program by:
Becoming a part of a larger community of peace builders. Our goal is to provide teachers and administrators with links to peace building and violence prevention resources in the community and to other Peace Heroes schools.
Having the support of the Peace Heroes Program Coordinator to help plan a celebration that is as unique and special as your school.
Having an official "Peace Hero" attend their Peace Heroes celebration and give an inspiring talk.
Receiving a Peace Heroes medal in recognition of their efforts.
PLUS! Schools will have the opportunity to send students as their schools "Peace Ambassadors" to the annual Peace Heroes youth conference.
We challenge your school to build peace! Need ideas? Check out the activities and celebrations that our partner schools have initiated.
If you need any help starting up a Peace Heroes initiative, please check out the Peace Heroes Handbook. Every school received a Handbook at the beginning of the school year. The Handbook, which is aimed at youth, has tons of up-to-date resources on bullying, conflict management, and many other important issues related to peace. It even has information on starting and sustaining an effective group so that any teams or clubs in your school can work together to build peace more effectively. If you cannot find the Peace Heroes Handbook at your school, a copy is available at this web-site.
